About the Film
The documentary 1980, directed by Iñaki Arteta, chronicles a year in which Spain was affected, amid the oil crisis, by an appalling number of murders, kidnappings, and terrorist acts committed by ETA. Indeed, ETA established its deadly reputation in large part during this extraordinarily turbulent year. This film follows a journey through the memories and reflections of journalists, an academic, a victim of terror, and a police officer who each experienced that year in their own way.
